When LRP is discontinued from your service station, Customers should however ascertain if, according to the manufacturer, their vehicle is susceptible to valve seat recession. They can visit the National Association of Automobile Manufactures of South Africa’s website for their vehicle compatibility chart.
Should valve seat recession be an issue, their alternative option is to add an anti-valve seat recession (ASVR) additive to the tank every time they fill up with unleaded petrol. Please use a trusted brand name, which is specifically designed to protect against valve seat recession.
Simply inject or pour the exact required amount of additive into the fuel tank prior to filling up with unleaded petrol and follow the instructions on the bottle carefully. These additives provide similar protection to the protection that was provided by lead in leaded petrol.
If customers are still unsure whether their vehicles can use Unleaded Petrol (ULP) without any addition of an AVSR additive, please seek advice from the vehicle's manufacture.
